LEVEL 1 OF EARTH: THE VIBE!

The principles of this level are simple: Your dance is organic and connected to the root as long as you are grounded. The connection to the earth delivers you interaction with gravity, your feet, a balanced posture and the ability to play with the rebound. The ingredients you can therefore examine are:

1. Groove

Shift your weight from one foot to another to the beat and create a subtle, repetitive movement in your torso that feels organic.

  • Side to side

  • Back and forth

  • Bounce/Rock/Rolls

 

Challenge: Once you establish a groove, slowly get out of it and find another one - vary and collect.

2. Steps

Start from the smallest unit of a step: the 2-Step! Elaborate variations by changing direction and creating small combos.

  • Left and right

  • Front and back

  • Crossing over

Challenge: Get inspired by a specific step from any dance style. Repeat it until you master it and vary it again.

3. Gravity

Become friends with gravity! Involve your knees more in your steps and grooves, discover the bounce and rebound.

  • Bounce with confidence

  • Bend your knees

  • Use the rebound

Challenge: Let gravity pull you to the ground and discover the same principle on the floor level.

0) GROUNDING + A) WARM-UP

To get into the right sensitivity and mode, I offer you a little round of grounding breaths and a very gentle Warm-Up to mobilize your joints and activate the spirit of the vibe! Have fun!
